  • Travel Updates on COVID-19

    In the current climate of uncertainty, everyone at the Sun Viking Lodge wants to inform and reassure you, that our guests and employees well-being and safety, have always been our utmost priority.

    We understand everyone’s concerns regarding the possible spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are concerned as well.

    All rooms, public areas as well as back-of house, are regularly and thoroughly cleaned to the highest standards, paying special attention to high-touch areas such as door handles, etc. In an abundance of caution pertaining to coronavirus, we are temporarily closing our Viking Kafe, based on local and state mandates.

    Ongoing training has been put in place to ensure employees are fully prepared to keep our property clean, and experts say that soap and water are your best defense.


    It is with great sadness, that we are sharing the news that our beach is closed. As of April 3, 2020, all beaches in Volusia County are closed until further notice. No access is authorized, including no walking on the beach and NO lifeguards are on duty.

    In an abundance of caution pertaining to coronavirus, we have temporarily closed our Viking Kafe, based on local and state mandates.

    Our Activity Program is now extremely limited, offering only a few “self-activities” each week, keeping kids separated from each other.

    During these difficult times, we have updated our cancellation policy so our guests can cancel their reservation up to 24 hours prior to arrival for a full refund.

  • Is the Sun Viking Lodge a smoke-free property?

    The rooms are all non-smoking, as are the pools and pool decks. However, we do allow smoking in designated areas such as the parking lot, on the private balconies, and in on the grassy medians.

  • Does Sun Viking Lodge have a restaurant or bar on-premises?

    We have a small walk-up cafe that serves made-to-order breakfast and lunch; open seasonally from February through August. Since we are a family resort, we do not have a bar on-property.

  • Is the pool heated?

    We have an indoor and an outdoor pool that are both heated year-round to 86 degrees. We also have a hot tub.

  • Is there a charge to use the waterslide or the activity program?

    All activities and amenities are provided at no extra charge. In season, local vendors sell hair wraps, sell ice cream bars, and snacks.

  • Do you have rooms with kitchens?

    We offer a variety of rooms with fully equipped kitchens. All rooms without kitchens have a mini-refrigerator and a microwave.

  • Are all rooms oceanfront?

    We have an eight-story building and a two-story building. Most oceanfront rooms are in the 8-story and only four are in the two-story building.

  • Do you allow pets?

    With the exception of documented service animals, pets are not allowed at Sun Viking Lodge.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

    At this time, guests can cancel up to 24 hours prior to arrival for a full refund. 

  • Are there restaurants within walking distance?

    There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and many more within a ten-minute drive.

  • Are there elevators in both buildings?

    Our eight-story tower has two elevators; the two-story building does not have any elevators.

  • How far is the nearest airport?

    Daytona Beach International Airport is 15 minutes away, Orlando Sanford International Airport is 45 minutes away, and Orlando International Airport is 90 minutes away.

  • How close are you to the attractions?

    We are approximately one hour away from the historic city of St. Augustine and the Kennedy Space Center. Orlando attractions are approximately one-and-a-half-hour drive.

  • How far is the Daytona International Speedway?

    The Daytona International Speedway is just a ten to fifteen-minute drive away from our door.
